DURATION Two (2) years
VALUE J$75,000
ELIGIBILITY To be considered for the award, applicants should satisfy all of the following criteria:
1:) Be Jamaican Nationals;
2) Have successfully completed the First Year of the LL.B programme at the University of the West Indies
3) Have attained distinction (namely, Grade A) in at least two (2) law subjects in the UWI First Year LL.B exams;
4) Be no more than 25 years of age on September 1 of the year of the award
5) Be a person of good character and possess leadership qualities
CONDITIONS The awardee will be required to serve in Jamaica for a period of three (3) years immediately following completion of the course of study. In addition, the awardee will be required to accept employment with Myers, Fletcher & Gordon as a Law student (on the usual terms) during all or part of the two (2) summers following the 3rd and 4th years of legal study.
METHOD OF SELECTION Applicants shall be short-listed and interviewed by a panel comprising UWI personnel and Myers, Fletcher & Gordon representatives.
