The inaugural issue of the Gift: The Journal for Caribbean Philanthropy, the first regional publication dedicated to providing detailed documentation, case studies and analysis of philanthropy in all its dimensions is now available for subscription. The journal is published by the UWI Development and Endowment Fund's Centre for Caribbean Philanthropy.
The Gift is expected to provide a platform for the philanthropic community within the Caribbean to share research, experiences, best practices, and tools of the trade as well as to allow discourse between practitioners in the region in the hopes of strengthening and sustaining the non-profit sector. In this issue the Gift examines a range of topics which include the role government in the region's philanthropic programmes, support to professionals in the industry, corporate social responsibility, building philanthropic partnership-networks and the role of philanthropy in nation building.
The contributions in this issue are a mix of international/regional academia as well as the nonprofit and corporate sectors including presentations from the February 2005 Caribbean Conference on Philanthropy. Noted contributors include UWI Chancellor Sir George Alleyne, Special Advisor on Grenada to the Prime Minister of Canada, the Honourable Jean Augustine, Beverly Dinham-Spencer, the Digicel Foundation and Dehring, Bunting & Golding.
